Clip duration is capped at 15 seconds, otherwise the GIF gets too large.

This tool cuts a clip out of a video and turns it into an animated GIF. Set the start time, how many seconds to take (up to 15), the frame rate, and the width — the rest adjusts automatically while preserving the aspect ratio.

Upload a video (MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WebM and others), configure the clip settings, and download the finished GIF. By default it takes the first 3 seconds of the video at 10 frames per second and 480 pixels wide — enough for most chat and social media use cases.

The GIF is rendered in two passes via ffmpeg: first an optimal color palette is built for the specific clip, then the frames are re-encoded against that palette, producing noticeably cleaner animation than a single-pass render. Duration is capped at 15 seconds to keep the file a reasonable size. The file is deleted from the server immediately after processing.

Frequently asked questions

Upload your video, set the start time and clip duration (up to 15 seconds), optionally adjust FPS and width, and click "Convert."
GIF doesn't compress as efficiently as video codecs — long clips produce huge files. 15 seconds is a reasonable balance between usability and file size.
Yes, via FPS (frames per second) and width. Higher values give smoother, sharper animation but a larger file.
