PDF to Excel — Convert Online
Extract a table from a PDF into Excel (XLSX). Works best for simple tables with clear column boundaries.
The PDF to Excel converter extracts tabular data from a PDF and lays it out into XLSX cells — useful when a table only exists as a PDF (a report, a statement, a price list) and you need to work with it like a regular spreadsheet: sorting, calculating, filtering.
Unlike our other LibreOffice-based converters, PDF doesn't store table structure — only the visual position of text on the page. So this converter takes a different approach: pdftotext extracts the text while preserving the original layout (the -layout flag), then columns are detected heuristically, based on gaps of two or more spaces between values. This works well for simple tables with clear column boundaries, and poorly for complex layouts, merged cells, multi-line cell values, or scanned PDFs with no text layer (those need OCR).
