Sometimes a photo doesn't need converting to a different format, just simple processing: applying an effect or marking the shot as your own. Let's look at two tools for that — filters and watermarks.
Photo filters
The filter tool applies one of several ready-made effects to an image:
- Black-and-white — classic desaturation, removing color and leaving only tone and contrast.
- Sepia — a warm brownish tint that mimics an old photograph.
- Color inversion — a negative, flipping every color to its opposite.

Watermarks: why and how
A watermark solves two different problems: protecting a photo from being used without credit (photographers, bloggers) or marking an image with a brand logo (product cards, marketing materials).
The watermark tool overlays either text (for example, © and a site name) or a logo image from a separate file. You can configure:
- Watermark type — text or image.
- Opacity — the lower the value, the less noticeable the watermark on the photo.
- Position — one of the four corners, or centered.
For a logo, a PNG with a transparent background is recommended — that way only the mark itself gets overlaid on the photo, without a white rectangle around it.
How to choose opacity
A watermark that's too visible distracts from the photo itself; one that's too faint is easy to remove or simply unreadable. For copyright protection, 20-40% opacity is usually enough: the mark is visible but doesn't get in the way of viewing the shot.
